A trip to the farmers market..Morrisville, PA.

Took a trip yesterday to the Morrisville, Pa. Farmers Market.  Great place to pickup inexpensive produce.  Nothing organic but the market is close and has everything i would normally need.  On occasion i need a break from Whole Foods and Wegmans where i normally purchase "organic".  Very expensive to do so.  When you purchase especially non-organic, be sure to clean your produce well prior to juicing!

Next week I will document via photos the many fruits and vegetables I am not familiar with.  Check back!  Maybe you have tried something different and can make recommendations.

Juicing with Cheryl Crane

I am so excited to share my adventure to better health with friends and family.  In June of 2011 I watched a documentary titled "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead".  It changed my life for what I hope is forever.  That day I committed to a better diet in hopes of losing a few pounds.  What I didn't expect was an even more significant outcome.  I simply felt good! Amazingly good!  The weight loss of 14 lbs was a big plus but I slept better, had energy to build a pyramid (smile) and simply felt 20 years younger.

This blog I hope will be a way of sharing this experience as it is now a lifetime habit for me, with anyone interested in partaking. I hope you find it resourceful and full of interesting photos, stories, recipes, and guidelines about juicing! The photo above is my grocery cart for the week! $60 for all which isn't bad.   A year ago I would have tossed that out in a single evening for dinner and drinks.

I welcome your feedback!  Cheryl Crane

Some Really Good Tips

WHY BOTHER? by Andrew W. Saul
People often ask me, “Why juice at all? Why not just eat all those vegetables raw?” Because you won’t, that’s why. I often juice five pounds or more of carrots, plus six to eight apples, just for breakfast. I’d never find the time to eat all that without the shortcut of a juicer.
The second reason to juice is this: your body’s absorption of fresh, raw juice is simply outstanding. A juicer is essentially a powerful motor with teeth, breaking cell walls and releasing all the nutrients into a solution that your body sucks up like a sponge.

What Juicer did I choose?

There are many juicers on the market to choose from.  Cost was certainly a factor for me although I gave up 3 weekends of dinner out to justify my $300 Breville.  I love this juicer.  Very quick with a couple of settings for soft vs. hard fruits and veggies.  Clean up is a breeze! I picked up at Bed Bath and Beyond for less than the $299 asking price with a 20% coupon.  I was actually hoping to get the $199 version however they were out  of stock.  No regrets..the extra $100 bucks was worth the performance.

I have posted a video in the You Tube Link above that includes a few juice comparisons.
